Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been fascinated by the glamour that seems to come from simply being French. I always went straight for my mom’s Chanel lipstick when playing dress up — sorry, mom. And I never got tired of watching “Sabrina” where one trip to Paris (and a jaw dropping collection of Givenchy gowns) transforms Audrey Hepburn from the less-than-glamorous chauffeur’s daughter into a knockout.
Makeup Remover: I just see no point in spending hundreds of rupees on those costly makeup removers which only add to our skin problems on a longer run. Use coconut oil as a makeup remover. Just apply about a teaspoon of coconut oil on your skin, leave for about two minutes and wash off with a mild cleanser. Coconut oil has innate moisturizing and exfoliating properties.
This product is Clearasil Ultra Overnight Wash minus the salicylic acid—which gets rinsed down the drain just a few seconds after you apply it to your skin. If you have sensitive skin, you wont have any problems with either Ultra Overnight Wash or Daily Clear Daily Face Wash for Sensitive Skin, but why not buy the latter, since it sells for just US $5.29? Both products will get your skin clean, but neither product will clear up blackheads or pimples.
Running around all day? Your skin doesn’t need to suffer just because you’re busy! Bring a pack of refreshing face wipes (like Yes to Cucumbers Hypoallergenic Facial Towelettes, $3) along for the ride, and wipe your face down any time you and your skin need a boost.
Is peach not your color? This Clearasil product offers 10% benzoyl peroxide for killing acne bacteria fast, without the familiar peach tint. It’s great for killing acne bacteria fast, but like the tinted version of Clearasil, it can also cause itching, peeling, burning, and stinging if it is applied to unblemished skin. This product also retails for US $6.99 for 1 oz/28 grams.
The ingredients used work well in enhancing* collagen production, which works well in boosting skin tightness and elasticity. This helps in the reduction* of wrinkles and fine lines while preventing skin sagging.
Don’t: Forget to pamper yourself. A gentle facial massage with oils could work wonders. Depending on your skin type, choose oils from mustard, coconut, almond or Kumkadi as they are excellent nourishing agents which help to get glowing skin. Better still – switch on some soothing instrumental music. After 20 minutes, what do you have? Beautiful skin and a relaxed you.
Lifecell is one of the most popular wrinkle creams today because of ads online, in magazines and on TV. This product is manufactured by South Beach Skin Care. This product can be directly purchased via the manufacturer and there is also a risk-free 30-day trial on this product.
If you have multiple concerns, you might want to use multiple formulas. “I recommend treating different areas with different products,” Mattioli says. “Maybe you’ll use a vitamin C serum all over but then dab on [another] for hyperpigmentation on just a few spots.” Just run any combination by your dermatologist to avoid any potential reactions.
The Pore Targeting Treatment gel and Complexion Perfecting Hydrator moisturizer slip on nicely, with the former powered by skin-loving glycerin and the latter by a whole slew of delicious ingredients, including licorice root extract, sodium hyaluronate, bisabolol, and allantoin. We are iffy on the Skin Smoothing Exfoliator face wash, though, and not only because the microbead granules can be harsh on active breakouts. “Acne products that are washes will tend not to work as well as leave-on or rub-in products,” explains Dr. Green. “Think about it. How well can a product work when rinsed off a few seconds after you put it on?”
Cleansing Lotion: “A no-foam, no-lather, super-mild cleansing lotion is best for those with dry skin,” Rouleau says. Try her line’s Calming Chamomile Cleanser ($34) or Clarins’s Cleansing Milk With Alpine Herbs ($31).
Adult acne can also be aggravated by internal and external factors. Internally, the psychological effects of adult acne can contribute to continued flare-ups and breakouts. When adults are frustrated by the signs of acne on their skin, it causes additional emotional stress, which contributes to a continued over-activity of the sebaceous glands and leads to the continued cycle of breakouts. Externally, the need to “pick” or “squeeze” breakouts places even more bacteria on skin.
Its main ingredients are is organic tea tree oil & Aloe Vera which penetrates your pores and kills acne bacteria within seconds, these disinfecting and soothing properties, unlike other acne treatments, will not strip the skin of its natural oils and cause further damage.
Lightens Skin: Those who wish to lighten their skin tone can also take the help of besan. A paste prepared by mixing 1 tsp each of milk and lemon juice with 4 tsp of this cream colored powder can be applied regularly to lighten dark spots and reveal glowing skin. This can also be used for preparing an instant fairness pack. 3 tsp gram flour, 1 tsp of cream and 1 tsp ground orange peel – just mix these ingredients, apply and wash off for instantly fairer skin.
Based on its popularity with our customers, La Roche Posay’s Anthelios line has become your go-to for effective, safe and stable sunscreens. From essences to sheet masks, Korean beauty products and trends are taking over the American beauty market. Everyone is talking about the 10-step routine that is popular among the skin-centric women of Seoul. But it’s a total exaggeration. The first thing I learned when taking on this experiment: A week on a Korean skin-care regimen does not mean a 10-step process every day.
How healthy, radiant, hydrated and glowing your skin looks, says a lot about your natural beauty. Many people feel that real beauty doesn’t need any makeup or touch-ups to look good. If your skin is healthy, you’re good to go anywhere without any trace of makeup. Talking about skin, Indian beauties, unarguably, are the owners of the most naturally beautiful skin in this world. Here’s a sneak peek – Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen, Priyanka Chopra – these few names are just the tip of the ice berg.
Scientists made the first wrinkle fillers from a purified form of collagen extracted mostly from cows. Although it worked well and offered a natural-looking fill, the results didn’t last long. Most collagen injections began to break down as early as 1 month after treatment. Because these wrinkle fillers were made from an animal source, they also had a higher rate of allergic reaction and required allergy testing beforehand.
The key is to not be fooled by all those tempting labels or convincing brands – the ingredients list is where you’ll find the true value of the product. There’s no point saving money if all you’re paying for is a heavy dose of mineral oil, but unlike the ‘gentle’ products of my teens that stripped my skin and angered it, there are now more and more smart, safe products out there for sensitive types that don’t require too much investment.
All of a sudden, it happens. Here a zit, there a zit, everywhere a zit. It’s both puzzling and frustratingly counterproductive to experience acne after making changes to your routine, but it’s not uncommon.
Don’t overdo it. It can be tempting to layer on lots of cream, especially if you’re excited about trying out a new product. But everyone’s sensitivity to retinol and AHAs is different, so it’s best to be cautious until you know how well your skin will tolerate the product. Dr. Ford recommends a graduated approach: “We tell our patients to begin using retinol on Mondays and Thursdays for a few weeks, then up it to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for a few more weeks, and eventually you’ll just be taking weekends off. Some people can tolerate these products every day of the week.”
Keep in mind that even if some products market themselves toward severe acne breakouts, all the kits we looked at are definitely designed for mild to moderate acne. Not sure where you fit on that scale? You’re not alone! When you’re in the middle of a breakout, all acne seems severe, so it can be difficult to self-diagnose your symptoms. We talked to dermatologists and cosmetic chemists to better understand the differences between various types of acne, and have compiled an acne guide below.
The latest K-beauty trend has nothing to do with fun products and everything to do with the final result. Glass skin, which is the fancy name for clear, luminous, seemingly transparent skin, is taking over social media — and one person’s skin-care routine for achieving the look is going viral.
Benzoyl peroxide attacks the P. acnes bacteria. Once it’s on your face, benzoyl peroxide breaks into oxygen and benzoic acid, which rip through the bacteria’s membranes. However, one of its main side effects is dryness: If you’re going to use anything with benzoyl peroxide, make sure to moisturize afterwards. Sulfur and azelaic acid are less common and less severe alternatives to benzoyl peroxide, which can sometimes leave skin dry and irritated. “I use sulfur-based treatments a lot in adults,” says Dr. Peter Lio, assistant professor of clinical dermatology at Northwestern University. “It’s a good fit for patients who can’t tolerate the side effects of benzoyl peroxide.”
However, the skin may not get tons of benefits from anti-aging components of anti-aging products if you use the product in your 20s. With that said, there is no harm in using the product and there is no such thing as a right age.
Promising Review: “I love the velvety texture of this cleanser on my skin! You only need a pea-sized amount of product for it to slightly lather up and clean your face. The smell of grapefruit and ginger is very addicting. And the small beads are so beneficial. I could feel it exfoliate and actually stimulate my pores. It is very hydrating for a product that is oil-free!” —Gina O.
To help avoid skin irritation with alpha-hydroxy acids, it’s best to start with a product with low concentrations of AHA. Also, give your skin a chance to get used to the product. Start out by applying AHA skin products every other day, gradually working up to a daily application. Don’t use too much; follow the instructions on the package.
Cleansing Lotion: See dry skin. For aging skin specifically, Rouleau says to remember your neck when it comes to cleansing, treating, and sunscreen—it’s a secret spot that often shows the first sign of aging.
Promising Review: “I have combination skin and problems with hormonal acne. I wanted to try a skin product that was affordable and didn’t contain a bunch of chemicals. Acure Argan Oil has since become a staple for my facial care. And I love it as a daily moisturizer.” —Justwhatineeded
La Prairie was our top pick the first time we reviewed wrinkle creams, back in 2016. At the time was the only product we found that offered the triple whammy of retinoids, AHAs, and sodium hyaluronate. And there’s a lot to love about La Prairie. Testers adored its texture, both immediately after applying, and hours later. It’s a lightweight formula that absorbs nearly instantly, and rests almost invisibly on the skin. This is particularly impressive given that La Prairie also includes a host of moisturizing plant-based oils like jojoba and sunflower seed oil. These absorbed quickly when we applied in the evening, and helped soothe our skin so our faces felt refreshed and moisturized in the morning.
Antioxidant Serum: Rouleau recommends using a highly potent antioxidant serum (look for vitamins E, A, and C) during the daytime to help prevent collagen breakdown—just make sure to follow with SPF. We love SkinInc’s Vitamin A Serum ($45).
Do: Hydrate yourself. Drink lots of water daily, at least 8 glasses if not more. Also, eats fruits and vegetables that have a high water content such as watermelon, cucumber, orange, strawberry, grapefruit and cantaloupe. Ayurvedic physician, Vasant Lad recommends to “drink water from a blue coloured bottle”, since it has a cooling effect.
MURAD VS DERMALOGICA When the pimples first started, we shrugged it off as a sporadic outbreak caused due to an allergy. After all, when you are 55, you can pick up things randomly that you wouldn’t be caught dead with, in your hey days. But when it persisted for over a week, we decided to Read More …
If you notice a sudden, bumpy problem area, don’t follow your immediate instincts to go forth with the pimple popping. Though these areas or clusters of little, white bumps may look like breakouts, they could actually be milia. One big part of your skincare routine could be the cause of milia.
There’s no need to slather your face in day-glo green or mud and scare off all the neighborhood kids. Experts say masks and scrubs do little, if anything, to improve acne. A gentle, non-abrasive cleanser that’s formulated for your skin type (oily, dry, or combination) will do a lot more to keep your face pimple-free.
Traditional advice holds that you should only wear a retinoid cream at night, when there’s obviously no need to wear sunscreen. Retinoids applied during the day were once believed to make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, and more prone to burning and peeling. But current research suggests this isn’t true, and that the retinoids themselves are the reason that your skin may feel tender.
Apply a water-based moisturizer. Using a heavy moisturizer might make your skin even oilier. To combat this, use a water or gel-based moisturizer instead. These are moisturizers where water is listed as the first or second ingredient.
