The good news is you can improve this “compromised skin barrier.” The key is to consistently treat your skin gently and replenish your skin’s moisture. I call this treatment a “hydrating gentle skin care routine” and it’s the single most effective way to keep sensitive skin healthy.
For optimum results—and maximum penetration—apply products in the right order, says Doris Day, a dermatologist in N.Y.C. That’s right. Any acne treatment is a weeks-long experiment that you’re conducting with your skin. The cream also doubles as a concealer, so if you happen to have peach-colored skin, you can hide the your bumps and pimples, although on some skin tones the peach tone of the concealer makes pimples more obvious, not less. This product can also soften sharp edges around acne scars, but there are other products that work better.
If you have chronic eczema, research from Northwestern University shows that a very diluted bleach bath (about ½ cup for a full tub, which is weaker than the chemicals in a swimming pool) kills the surface bacteria that cause inflammation.
Ironically, the very same products you rely on to keep your skin looking its best could be doing your pores a big disservice. Using the wrong makeup or cream could actually accentuate the pimples you’re trying so hard to hide.

When you’re tired, it can be tempting to go to bed without washing your face. But leaving makeup on your skin can clog your pores and cause acne. So wash it off with a gentle cleanser or makeup remover. Use a soft wash cloth or cotton pads. If you use acne medicine, now’s a good time to put it on — when your face is clean and you won’t be putting on makeup.
Creams you apply in the morning are equipped to protect your skin from the environmental aggressors you’ll face when you leave the house—many contain antioxidants to minimize pollution-based free radicals and sunscreen to shield you from ultraviolet radiation. They typically have a lightweight consistency. Night creams, on the other hand, focus on repairing any damage you might have picked up with ingredients like retinol to speed cellular turnover and counteract dark spots. These creams also replenish moisture levels, which naturally dip in the evening, with emollients that often create a rich, thick texture.
All of the experts we consulted unanimously agreed on one thing: that sunscreen is, hands down, the most crucial skin-care product. It’s “of utmost importance as part of your year-round regimen,” Dr. Charles points out. “Daily and consistent sunscreen use helps to prevent the development of fine lines and wrinkles, textural imperfections, and changes in the appearance of pores over time. More importantly, daily sunscreen use can help to prevent the formation of certain skin cancers.” To make it easy to remember, experts recommend using a daily moisturizer with a built-in broad spectrum SPF of at least 30.
Injectable wrinkle fillers can give you a more youthful look for a fraction of what a traditional facelift costs. Most will fill hollows, lines, and wrinkles in less than 30 minutes with results that can last from 4 months to more than a year.
The benefits include a longer-lasting effect. And at least one filler offers semi-permanent filling of lines and creases. Remember, products with longer-lasting effects are more likely to cause side effects. And when not used correctly, synthetic wrinkle fillers may cause disfigurement.
Acne vulgaris is the catch-all term for everything from angry red lesions to tiny white bumps, which are the results of hair follicles and their sebaceous glands becoming blocked and inflamed — how vulgar indeed. Genetics plays a big part in who gets acne and how severely, but each blemish can be blamed on some combination of sebum production, a bacteria called Propionibecterium acnes (P. acnes), plugged follicles, and inflammation. Finding a good treatment is really about finding the right combination of ingredients to troubleshoot each of those issues.

Finally, for a skincare routine for older skin, your main goal is to plump up wrinkles, banish dark spots, and lift sagging. Rouleau says that your skin regimen will be similar to that of those with dry skin, with a few small differences.
Of course there are ways around that. Some jars come with applicators: little spoons that you’re supposed to use to take dollops of the product out. Maybe you’re the type that can always follow the rules (we’re not) — so while we didn’t declare tubs a deal breaker, we did consider it.

Would have given this five stars except, didn’t like the strong fragrance. I’m a bit sensitive and it did kind of cause me a bit of a problem with my skin, but I waited a bit and used it again later. As long as I alternate with other things it seems to be fine. It does have a nice feel on the skin, but it seems to dry my skin near my eyes a bit, but the rest of my skin is nice, smooth and soft. I’m a bit torn cause there are things I like and things I didn’t and I know I can make a handmade lotion that I find a little better for my purpose, but due to all the skin types out there I would definitely say this one is better then others I’ve tried and certainly not bad. It’s a pretty pure based lotion with lots of great ingredients that are good for skin so I have still rate it high.
