A low-glycemic diet-lots of vegetables, whole grains, and few processed sugars-can eliminate acne, according to a new Australian study. Refined carbohydrates, sugary treats, and processed foods spike insulin, which triggers a surge of other hormones that can cause blemishes. Low-glycemic foods, meanwhile, help the body regulate insulin, says Valori Treloar, an integrative dermatologist in Newton, Mass., and the author of The Clear Skin Diet.

@ brazen i also get exposed to sunlight a lot and would recommend Cetaphil as it has no photosensitive effects. I use Cetaphil wash and it has really been a great help with my acne. it cleans your skin thoroughly while still being gentle. i would recommend using this with a cleansing brush (clarisonic, luna, spin brush etc) and following with a toner preferably one with witch hazel. these combination of things has worked wonders for my skin. 3 months down the line the improvement has been fantastic. All I’m dealing with now is the scars (Hyperpigmentations).

You may also hear about retinyl palmitate. This is in the same family as retinol, but if the skin care product you choose contains retinyl palmitate, you will need to use more of this product than one that contains retinol to get the same effect. Pregnant women or nursing mothers cannot use retinol.
