According to Refinery29, things like washing your face with hot water or applying acne medication to an unpopped pimple can cause redness, so it might be time to make an upgrade to your typical behaviors.
Pack For Dry Skin: Milk is a blessing for those with dry skin. A mask prepared by adding milk to 1 mashed banana and honey can be applied to dry skin. Allow the mask to dry completely before washing off. Massage the washed off skin with a little milk to complete the moisturizing process.
When washing skin, avoid abrasive puffs and just use your fingertips. If your routine includes a washcloth, get the gentler, low-loop terry ones made for newborns, says Wendy Allred, education manager at N.Y.C.’s Bliss spa.

Scrubs were so fun at sixth-grade slumber parties but they don’t have a lot of use in the years right after you get your college diploma. “You’ll benefit later on if you exfoliate less in your 20s,” says Holey. Adding a weekly Greek yogurt-based mask — a natural source of lactic acid and probiotics — is plenty sloughing for most. Of course, the real deal works just as well, too.
Washing your face is the most basic and essential step of any routine, says the New York City dermatologist Dr. Carlos Charles. “Our skin comes in contact with environmental pollutants, dirt and other factors each day that should be gently removed.” Wash twice a day, morning and night, to avoid clogged pores, dullness and acne.

Eucerin products are perennially popular, and if you store and use this properly, it could be a great budget choice for everyday skin care, especially if your skin is very sensitive or very dry. Eucerin Q10 does not contain sunscreen, so is best used under an SPF containing moisturizer.

But we recommend starting with the regular strength version. “When it comes to strong products, less is more,” Townsend says.
Exfoliate once or twice a week. You should only exfoliate once or twice a week, or else you may cause damage to your skin. Be gentle as you exfoliate. Soft movements are all that are needed. Vigorously rubbing or scrubbing can be harmful.

This term frequently appears on product labels and is used by skin-care experts but not always defined in simple, clear language. Here’s a quick explanation: If a product claims to be non-comedogenic it means that it shouldn’t clog pores or trigger acne — either by occluding the skin, blocking glands or irritating the hair follicle. The claim is not regulated by the F.D.A., however, and many companies do their own internal tests to determine whether a product should be considered comedogenic or not. (Some common known comedogenic ingredients are coconut oil and cocoa butter.) Typically, the fewer ingredients a product has, the easier it is to determine if it will cause any reactions.
Wear protective clothing. Cover your skin with tightly woven long-sleeved shirts, long pants and wide-brimmed hats. Also consider laundry additives, which give clothing an additional layer of ultraviolet protection for a certain number of washings, or special sun-protective clothing — which is specifically designed to block ultraviolet rays.

Lightweight Moisturizer: “Combination skin doesn’t need an oil-free moisturizer, but it does need a lightweight one,” Rouleau says. Try Eve Lom’s TLC Radiance Cream ($72) for silky texture with antioxidants.
Studies have also shown that copper-dependent enzymes help firm, smooth, and soften the skin quicker than most other anti-aging skin care products. In addition, copper peptides have been shown to remove damaged collagen and elastin from the skin and scar tissue.

Toner: Rouleau says to look for an alcohol-free toner that has ingredients like sodium PCA (a humectant to hold water to your skin), geranium (an essential oil good for cutting oil), and witch hazel (a natural ingredient with an astringent effect without the drying effects of alcohol).
Cucumber is the best facial mask to treat oily skin. It helps to prevent blemishes, and reduces dark spots. It also provides a radiant looking skin. Blend cucumber juice and add a few drops of lemon juice into it. If you want, you can also add a pinch of turmeric into it. Mix them well and apply it on your skin. Let it dry for some time and rinse it off with water.
If your complexion is looking a little dull, chances are it needs a little scrub-down. Use a face scrub with round beads to slough off dead skin cells, and glowing skin will emerge underneath. Try to keep exfoliation to only twice a week to avoid irritation.

Shhhh…you didn’t here it from us, but popping a pimple can actually be OK sometimes, if you do it the right (not-scar-inducing) way!
