A healthy diet can help you look and feel your best. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. The association between diet and acne isn’t clear — but some research suggests that a diet rich in fish oil or fish oil supplements and low in unhealthy fats and processed or refined carbohydrates might promote younger looking skin. Drinking plenty of water helps keep your skin hydrated.
Mists are all the rage right now in the beauty world, and with good reason. They feel great on your skin, and they keep it moisturized without messing up your makeup! Keep a bottle by your desk to refresh your skin throughout the day. Not sure what kind of mist to choose? Ultra-soothing rosewater (like Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist, $31) works for most skin types.
Apply a natural toner made from lemon juice and water. Fill a water bottle or other container with one part freshly squeezed lemon juice and five parts filtered water. Apply the lemon juice toner with a cotton ball and do not rinse off.
Embracing the process of getting older is a wonderful thing, but it’s also totally fine to see the wrinkles on your face and wish that they were a little less prominent. That’s where these powerful anti-agers come in. We asked dermatologists to share their top anti-aging product picks that they not only suggest to their patients, but also use on themselves.
When we say massage, we mean massage. Rather than dabbing on your face cream, use gentle pressure, massaging it into your skin in a circular motion. Do the same when you wash your face. This simple trick will kick your circulation into high gear. Plus, it feels so good.
Look for ingredients that will fight acne. If you have acne-prone skin, then you should be using tougher ingredients that will reduce oil, shine, and pimples. Some common and effective ingredients include:[10]
Readers of this column will know that overcomplicated formulas and labelling are my bugbears; I like my products to be transparent with me on what’s inside them, and for what’s inside them to be free from known irritants. Less is always more for sensitive skin, which is why this pared-back range is an exciting one. Created by Deciem, the company behind the renowned Indeed range (another favourite of mine), The Ordinary has made waves in the beauty world since its launch in September thanks to its honest, fair and impressively low price points for a range that consists specifically of known active, efficacious ingredients. I’ve been testing their hyaluronic acid serum since the launch and although its texture is slightly stickier than my usual £30 bottle, I can’t fault its effects. Skin looks and feels plumped and hydrated immediately after use, and with a little bit of sinking-in time my moisturiser sits well on top of it before I apply makeup. I can’t justify a bigger spend elsewhere – this works.
This term frequently appears on product labels and is used by skin-care experts but not always defined in simple, clear language. Here’s a quick explanation: If a product claims to be non-comedogenic it means that it shouldn’t clog pores or trigger acne — either by occluding the skin, blocking glands or irritating the hair follicle. The claim is not regulated by the F.D.A., however, and many companies do their own internal tests to determine whether a product should be considered comedogenic or not. (Some common known comedogenic ingredients are coconut oil and cocoa butter.) Typically, the fewer ingredients a product has, the easier it is to determine if it will cause any reactions.
But we weren’t done. To ensure safety and efficacy, we also preferred wrinkle creams that came in tubes or pump-tops rather than tubs or jars. Reid explains, “Sticking your fingers directly into the product can introduce bacteria, and open tubs also expose a large surface area of the product to oxygen.” Like UV rays, oxygen can degrade the effectiveness of our key ingredients. But bacteria is a whole other mess. Studies have shown contaminated beauty products contain nasty bacteria like staph and E. coli. How do they get in there? Your fingers. Sure, you might wash your hands and face before applying your wrinkle cream, but what if you don’t get every particle of dirt out from under your nails? Boom: bacteria.
Though it’s a well known industry truth that it’s worth paying more for skincare rather than splashing out for makeup, there are now a few cheap gems out there that are well worth adding to your basket; for we sensitive types, I’d say it’s a smart move too because unless you know your exact beauty demons there’s always the risk of reaction and therefore of wasting your hard-earned cash.
The face wash contains 2% salicylic acid for loosening dead skin around blackheads, but you rinse this skin-active ingredient down the drain almost as soon as you put the product on your face. The lotion also contains menthol, which can increase oil production on some types of skin. The daily toner also contains salicylic acid, but at a pH (2.3) – low enough actually to burn the skin. Even worse, the toner contains a large amount of isopropyl alcohol, which can dry out the skin. And the toner is also mostly alcohol.
Behold your ablutions, for instance. You’re never sure whether a specific body wash or soap will reduce or promote your acne. You think twice to use a harsh sponge or loofah to clear your body of dirt and bacteria, as it might irritate and worsen your body acne.
Massage your face with nourishing oils — sweet almond, coconut, olive and jojoba oils are good choices — before going to bed. Black skin tends to be on the dry side, so allowing oils to soak into the skin overnight can contribute to glowing skin in the morning. Apply the oil to the skin using your fingertips. Use caution when massaging the sensitive tissues around the eyes.
Oil cleanse to remove makeup. Makeup removers often contain alcohol and other harsh ingredients that can dry out and irritate your skin. Oil cleansers are gentler than makeup removing wipes. Simply apply the oil to your dry skin, and wash off with warm water.[15]
TEA TREE OIL FOR ACNE Tea tree oil is a hugely popular natural treatment for acne with very good reason. Tea tree oil has solved the acne problems of thousands that suffer from all types of blemish problems. Tea tree plants are native to many areas around Australia. Harvesting the leaves, steaming them and then Read More …
We put a lot of time, effort, and money into looking beautiful (or handsome, depending on your gender). Americans fork over nearly $9 billion annually for creams, scrubs, concealers, and a drawerful of other cosmetics that claim to keep our skin looking clean, clear, and more youthful.
Wear a lot of makeup? Wash your face in two steps for the best results, says Milstead. First, remove makeup and sunscreen with a gentle cleanser that’s designed to break down cosmetics-try Shu Uemura’s Skin Purifier ($72; at shuuemura-usa.com). Next, use a formula with soothing, rejuvenating effects, like CeraVe’s hydrating cleanser ($11; at drugstore.com). Rub it in with upward motions from neck to forehead.
Antioxidant Serum: Rouleau suggests looking for an antioxidant serum with brightening ingredients like licorice and vitamin C, to fade dark spots and discoloration. Korres’s Black Pine Firming, Lifting & Antiwrinkle Serum ($68) will brighten as well as plump fine lines and wrinkles with peptides, hyaluronic acid, and resveratrol.
($26, (Shop Now), a two-time Best of Beauty winner that packs both salicylic acid and sea whip extract—an ingredient with skin-soothing properties—to help counteract the dryness sometimes caused by salicylic acid. The formula does double duty: It works as a spot treatment for mild to moderate acne and as a nightly allover treatment for pimple prevention. And since it dries clear, you can wear it to fight zits whenever, wherever.
What’s Going On: If it’s big, red, and painful, you’re probably experiencing cystic acne, one of the more severe types. “Cystic pimples are caused by genetics and hormonal stimulation of oil glands,” says Zeichner. Not only are they large, but they’re also notoriously tough to treat. They often recur in the same place, because even if you manage to get rid of one, it can keep filling up with oil again and again, like an immortal pimple.
What’s Going On: Blame it on your clogged pores. “Skin cells stick together inside your pores, blocking the opening,” explains Joshua Zeichner, a dermatologist and the director of cosmetic and clinical research in dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. The white you see at the top—hence “whitehead”—is the blocked pore. Oil trapped beneath it mingles with grime and bacteria, causing inflammation and the red, swollen bump that ultimately makes a pimple.
Ole Henriksen Pore-Balance Facial Sauna Scrub ($28, sephora.com) is made with volcanic sand and neem seed oil to help clear pores. But what will keep you applying this product again and again is the temperature change. It starts out as a warming scrub and then it quickly gives the skin one last cool shot before your rinse.
“Red wine is the natural source for resveratrol, as it is rich in grape skin and seeds. I use this at night to improve skin pigmentation (it does this by lowering tyrosinase levels) and in my patients who have a little bit of adult female acne and redness, it works beautifully as a nighttime antioxidant to improve skin. It has also been shown to improve skin thickness without a drying effect seen in retinols. In terms of mechanism of action, resveratrol can bind specific polyphenol binding sites in the epidermis which can be used to prevent signs of aging.”
Product picks from my practice include All Natural Face and Body Butter Cream or All Natural Face, Hand and Body Lotion. Other sensitive skin product options include Aveeno Skin Relief Moisture Repair Cream or Daily Moisturizing Lotion, CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion.)
Purpose: The essence is really the heart of Korean skin care, a step that is credited to their culture. Cho claims it’s of the most important parts of the routine. “It’s a treatment product similar to serums, boosters, or ampoules; but it’s more watery in consistency then the rest of those products, so it comes out like a toner.”
Do: Make sure you always (and we mean always) remove your makeup before hitting the sheets. The skin needs to breathe overnight. And makeup prevents that, as leaving it on overnight clogs the pores which may cause blemishes and/or blackheads. Don’t possess a makeup remover? Just put some olive oil on a cotton pad and gently massage the oil onto your face to get rid of the makeup and dirt.
With the many options of wrinkle creams available, it is not always easy to know if you are making a safe and effective choice. Here are a few tips to ensure you have chosen a safe and reliable brand.
Love a dewy, glowy look? There are products for that. Looking to ditch your usual radiance-boosting serums in favor of a matte, poreless face? There are also ways to achieve that. Though no product or regimen guarantees absolute perfection, they can help you reach some skin-care goals or looks and can add a little experimental fun to your daily roster of products.
We get it: Ruling the world from one’s iPhone leaves little time for diligent skin care. But “by your mid-20s, you really need to start paying attention,” says Kristina Holey, a holistic facialist in San Francisco. Breakouts, brown spots, and dry patches are likely on your mind. But using too many products can irk skin and clog pores. Here, experts highlight the decade’s most common challenges — and everything you need to overcome them.
When we asked what those types of other ingredients are, Dr. Green said there were no clear answers there either — skin is too subjective. “I think the best answer is to use one that feels good and rubs into your skin well without over-drying it,” he says. The more comfortable it is to apply, the more likely you are to keep up the regimen.
“Your diet has a huge impact on your skin. Avoid starchy vegetables and refined carbohydrates like white bread and rice and instead opt for foods high in omega 3’s and fatty acids like avocados and salmon to help give you that youthful glow.” –Whitney Bowe, dermatologist, New York City
The key ingredients that are used by the manufacturer are Matrixyl-3000, Argireline, and SYN-AKE. These ingredients work together to preserve stem cells for healing, repairing, and fighting the signs of aging.
Hydrating Moisturizer: “Some ingredients I recommend to look for in moisturizers are rosehip seed oil, evening primrose oil, borage oil, phospholipids, cranberry oil, sweet almond oil, and jojoba oil,” Rouleau says. “All of these ingredients mimic the natural lipids in your skin and do a better job of repairing your skin’s moisture barrier.” Try Perricone MD’s Nourishing Moisturizer ($80) or Intraceuticals’ Rejuvenate Moisture Binding Cream ($69) for a big dose of moisture that doesn’t feel greasy.
Cleanses Skin: Milk is a natural cleansing agent. Just mix about 2 teaspoons milk with 1 tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp lemon juice. Apply this on your face, leave for 15 minutes and wash off for clean and clear skin.
Estee Lauder Perfectionist CP+R Wrinkle Lifting Serum (Est. $100 for 1.7oz) is another over-the-counter anti-wrinkle serum that gets raves from experts and users. Yes, it’s pricey, but it gets rave reviews across multiple sites such as Macy’s, Sephora and Nordstrom. Amazon carries it as well, and the prices line up with what we see elsewhere, however, the ratings at Amazon are lowered by reports of counterfeit products. We have no way of verifying or refuting those reports, other than to suggest that you should be sure to buy from a seller (Amazon does not sell this themselves) with top user feedback to ensure you are getting the real thing.
If you see anything in the URL bar that says something else entirely, you are not really on that magazine’s website. If you’re still not sure, try to click on one of the other sections (like News or Style). If it’s a phony website, they cut the act right then and redirect you to a form to fill out for their “free trial.”
Same here man. I tried Proactiv, Clean and Clear, everything I found at Wallgreens and Walmart. What I found to help is standard benzoyl peroxide and a pill called Wipeout. I bought it at the stopacnefast website. Instead of shrinking the glands like Accutane, it stops oil production, stopping the acne. Stuff works wonders.

Why She Loves It: The fact that this pricey product smells rather, well, funky has not deterred its legions of devoted users, and that’s because it’s just that good. What’s in the secret sauce? “Growth factors,” says Fabi, “which increase collagen production and thicken skin overall.” It’s also a product that dermatologists consistently cite as one they religiously use themselves.
Jasmine extract is a soothing oil rich with antioxidants. Many clients of N.Y.C. dermatologist David Colbert treat their faces with Rodin Olio Lusso ($140; at oliolusso.com), which contains jasmine to condition the skin and give it a healthy look. Molly Sims is a fan.

The Rahua Elixir Oil is… revolutionary, iconic, absolutely groundbreaking, EARTH shatteringly good. My hair just eats this shit like Kobayashi. When your acid mantle is damaged, you’re actually more susceptible to breakouts, enlarged pores, and inflammation. To make matters worse, evaporating all the oil on your face can actually set your sebaceous glands into overdrive, leaving your skin oilier than ever. If any product included a simple alcohol high up in its ingredients list, we nixed its whole kit.

Sonic cleansing: A rotating disc emits pulsations that dislodge impurities from your pores. Most tools come with multiple settings for a gentle to deep clean. [Clarisonic Mia 1 Facial Cleansing Brush, $129]
A non-product-related tip Choi finishes up on is diet. “For me, eating fried and greasy foods affects my skin,” she wrote. “Make sure to drink tons of water daily! Eat more [fruits and vegetables].” Eating better and drinking more H2O is always a good idea, but water isn’t as magical as everyone makes it sounds. “This is one of the biggest myths in all of dermatology,” Elizabeth Tanzi, founder and director of Capital Laser & Skin Care and associate clinical professor, department of dermatology at the George Washington University Medical Center once told Allure.”Drinking six to eight glasses of water does not hydrate the skin from within. Drinking water is essential for overall health, but it has very little to do with the level of skin hydration.”
Antioxidant Serum: Rouleau recommends using a highly potent antioxidant serum (look for vitamins E, A, and C) during the daytime to help prevent collagen breakdown—just make sure to follow with SPF. We love SkinInc’s Vitamin A Serum ($45).
Yes, it’s relaxing to snooze on your tummy, but to avoid wrinkles, flip over. “I can tell which side of their face my patients sleep on,” says Dr. Day. A Vanity pillow ($145; vanitypillow.com) cradles your head, preventing tossing and turning.
Skin care products containing hydroquinone are often called bleaching creams or lightening agents. These skin care products are used to lighten hyperpigmentation, such as age spots and dark spots related to pregnancy or hormone therapy (also called melasma).
It’s best to wash your face twice a day, but if you can manage only once, do it in the evening: Never sleep in your makeup, says Linder. Does your skin feel squeaky-clean after cleansing? Then you’re stripping it of necessary natural oils, and it will eventually feel dry, tight, and itchy. Use a nonsoap face wash. For oily complexions, one with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide is a good choice. For combination or dry skin, try a creamy cleanser.

  1. Promising Review: “I love the velvety texture of this cleanser on my skin! You only need a pea-sized amount of product for it to slightly lather up and clean your face. The smell of grapefruit and ginger is very addicting. And the small beads are so beneficial. I could feel it exfoliate and actually stimulate my pores. It is very hydrating for a product that is oil-free!” —Gina O.
However, there is a small drawback of this product as well like every other product that is sold on the market. The ingredients are quite good, but the exact amounts of the ingredients are not revealed by the manufacturer.
Mary Kay TimeWise Repair Volu-Fill Deep Wrinkle Filler instantly works to make wrinkles less noticeable. No matter where your trouble spots are — forehead, crow’s feet or lips — experts say you’ll see an immediate smoothing and plumping. It’s not just a temporary fix either, the anti-aging ingredients in this product work to minimize those lines and wrinkles for the long term as well. Overall, experts say, it’s a great value for the great results.
When body weight goes up and down, it loosens elasticity and makes skin sag, says Dr. Levine. So she suggests finding a happy medium (even if it’s heavier) on the scale: “You lose the weight first in the face, but a fuller face may just look younger.”

Remember this home remedy the next time you get a big pimple: Do several cycles of hot compresses, then apply a glob of 1 percent hydrocortisone cream, like Aveeno hydrocortisone anti-itch cream ($6; at drugstore.com, and let it sit for two hours. “It’s very similar to getting a shot of hydrocortisone to deflate the bump,” says Dr. Fusco.

A couple of creams checked all the boxes of our ingredient wish list but came in the wrong packaging. They both use jars. Unlike squeeze tubes and pump bottles, a jar means that the entire cream is exposed to air, sun, and bacteria every time it’s used. If you’re sold on the idea of a thick lotion or cream, these runners-up are the closest competitors to the $530 La Prairie. And if you do opt for a wrinkle cream in a jar, we’d suggest the following precautions: Wash your hands thoroughly or use a clean applicator wand for each use, and keep your cream in the fridge (bacteria grow more slowly in the cold).
We consider ourselves quite the skincare fanatics here at Byrdie HQ—it’s hard not to be when our desks look like they could be featured in an episode of Hoarders: Skincare Edition (currently in the process of pitching that idea to A&E). However, we are well aware that our plight is a unique one and that the average woman is more concerned about what to use on her face rather than where to store her eighth cleanser of the week.

  2. If you notice a sudden, bumpy problem area, don’t follow your immediate instincts to go forth with the pimple popping. Though these areas or clusters of little, white bumps may look like breakouts, they could actually be milia. One big part of your skincare routine could be the cause of milia.
To provide even more perspective, we turned to beauty product retail sites like Ulta, Makeup Alley and Sephora. These specialty makeup retailers are invaluable in gauging real-world results from these wrinkle creams. And, because so many of our top choices are available at drugstores and large retailers, feedback from customers at places like Walgreens, Walmart and Amazon (though see Our Sources for a caveat regarding some wrinkle cream reviews at Amazon) often offer a look at how more typical users of some of these products react to their performance and price.

Salicylic acid is an effective ingredient for treating the bother-some bikini-line issue, but some women find it too harsh. As an alternative, Ji Baek suggests a facial toner like 3Lab’s Perfect Beautifying toner ($55; 3lab.com) with lavender extract to soothe bumps and minimize redness.
    * Regular exfoliation helps get rid of dead skin, which in turn helps your skin breathe and absorb other nutrients. Exfoliated skin looks fresh and healthy. For a 100 percent natural skin exfoliator you can use an almond orange face scrub.
Water.org is an international nonprofit organization that has positively transformed millions of lives around the world through access to safe water and sanitation. Founded by Gary White and Matt Damon, Water.org pioneers innovative, market-driven solutions to the global water crisis — breaking down barriers to give families hope, health and the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty.
So that’s why, ordinary face washes and cleansers don’t work out for acne-prone skins. This carefully formulated, ultra-gentle cleanser from acne.org rinses your skin clean without disrupting your skin pH levels.
Toning the skin is very essential for everyone after cleansing your face especially for oily skin people. It helps in closing up the pores after cleansing and maintains the ph level of your face. It is important for oily skin people as it helps in removing the impurities and dirt which might have been left out by your face wash. And if you wear heavy makeup, then using a toner is a must. Lakme fundamentals skin balancing toner contains natural ingredients like witch hazel and lavender which are known for their toning properties. It also tightens the pores and helps in maintaining the ph balance; providing a complete skin hydration.
Barb told me that she was searching for an effective wrinkle cream and came across a website that looked like it was an article from People magazine and offered a “free trial” on an anti-aging serum. She loved the idea of being able to try a so-called “wrinkle treatment” for free, because she could always just send it back if it didn’t work and not pay a dime—or so she thought.

  3. If you are on People magazine’s website, the URL will say people.com. If you’re not, it will say something else. It’s that simple. If you click on a particular section, it will say people.com and then whatever section, like this:
Radical’s anti-aging serum contains a clean, safe and effective blend of ingredients that aim to help improve the look of skin. It’s free from many of the harsh chemicals that are found in cosmetics and the company seems very reliable.*
Don’t: Neglect your jawline and facial muscles. For just 5 minutes a day, perform a few facial exercises. You can jut out your lower lip in such a way that wrinkles are created on the chin, then lower your chin to your chest. Another exercise that works wonders is to look up towards the ceiling and pout. It stretches out the muscles making the skin more firm. “18 till I die”, why not?
Simply put, serums are powerful skin allies. Filled with concentrated doses of active ingredients, these elixirs can mitigate a number of issues, from dark spots to wrinkles. “Even if you don’t have any specific issues, everyone still needs a general antioxidant serum in the morning to protect from daily aggressors,” Mattioli says. While there are “limitless options” for ingredients, Nazarian singles out her hardworking favorites. To handle specific issues, look for these products:
Relax with a clay mask to reduce oil. Clay masks are great for people with oily skin. Smear them on your face after cleansing, and leave them on for fifteen to twenty minutes before rinsing off. Apply moisturizer afterwards.[12]

The key to not looking tired? It’s…not being tired! Easier said than done, we know. Do whatever you can to get in seven to eight hours a night and your skin—including those pesky undereye bags!—will look noticeably better. Trust us: Sleep offers the kind of results that no face cream can mimic.

  4. We began our search for the best wrinkle cream by pulling top-sellers from major retailers like Walgreens, Amazon, and Target, compiling a list of 112 creams, gels, and serums — everything from high end brands like Estee Lauder and Lancome to drugstore staples like Neutrogena and L’Oreal. From here, we reached out to cosmetic chemists and dermatologists: We wanted to find out which ingredients would help skin look youthful, and which weren’t worth the hype.
Anyone who suffers from persistent blemishes knows you can’t get rid of them fast enough. But if the acne products you’ve tried have had spotty results, put our top-rated Korean treatments to the test. (After all, Asian women prize creamy-smooth skin, so you know their anti-acne arsenal means business.) These solutions for acne-prone complexions will clear the way for more beautiful skin in no time.

  5. Don’t: Neglect your jawline and facial muscles. For just 5 minutes a day, perform a few facial exercises. Consider this your rule of thumb, according to Dr. Nazarian: “Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before sun exposure, and reapply at least every two hours. Chemical sunscreens should be applied directly to clean skin, while physical blockers can be applied last in your skin-care regimen, but before makeup is applied. About two tablespoons of sunscreen are appropriate to cover your face and exposed areas of your body; within that amount, use a nickel-size dollop to cover your face.”
As people age, the skin naturally loses elasticity and collagen, and this can lead to sagging skin, wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, and dryness. While this is a completely natural process, it can be frustrating to those who take pride in their appearance.
Rejuvelix was selected as our editors anti aging choice because it contains all the top researched ingredients mentioned above, and backed by published research. Many of these ingredients have been recently developed in France and Germany while the final formula is developed in the USA.*1,11,12,13
To help avoid skin irritation with alpha-hydroxy acids, it’s best to start with a product with low concentrations of AHA. Also, give your skin a chance to get used to the product. Start out by applying AHA skin products every other day, gradually working up to a daily application. Don’t use too much; follow the instructions on the package.
Appriya Mineral Complex Serum ($239, appriya.com) is basically perfect skin bottled. Because it’s a serum, the formula has several hydrating ingredients like aloe and horse chestnut extract. But it’s also got zinc, which reduces sebum production, along with evening primrose seed extract, a natural anti-inflammatory. Just one or two drops does the trick, so here, a little goes a very long way.
I am always looking out for good products for acne prone skin as my husband has breakouts occasionally. It’s amazing how men don’t see to care about a skin care regimen as we do. If I don’t remind him to wash his face and put lotion on etc. he won’t do it!
These pore cleansing pads are supposed to remove dirt and makeup with a small amount of sodium hydroxide, which is also known as lye. They are supposed to open pores with salicylic acid, and the pads include the right amount of salicylic acid to do the job. The problem is that the sodium hydroxide used to remove oil and makeup neutralizes the salicylic acid so that it can’t do its job. The pads also contain alcohol and menthol that can actually stimulate sebum production on sensitive skin. Even at the bargain price of US $5.49 for 90 pads, Clearasil Pore Cleansing Pads can’t be recommended.

  6. You thought you’d outgrown acne like an old high-school sweetheart, but 45 percent of women in their 20s still regularly battle bumps, says Bowe. In this decade, docs have shifted the list of triggers from clogged pores and overactive bacteria to unbalanced hormones, which typically cause pimples to sprout on the chin and jawline right around the time of your period. Sometimes acne flairs up when women go off the pill after many years not realizing (light bulb!) it was preventing both pimples and pregnancies. For some, returning to the pill can quickly rectify the problem (talk options with your gynecologist).
Skin care experts suggest that everyone use a retinol cream as they begin to notice signs of aging, but not everyone can tolerate the side effects. RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Night Cream may be the answer. In testing, this retinol cream performed as well as much pricier products, with few reports of irritation. It works well with all skin types, but if your skin is dry, you may want to follow up with a moisturizer.
The anti-wrinkle cream claims to supercharge skin and contains key ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, antioxidants and a rice peptide complex – all of which help to reduce fine lines and the dreaded crows feet.
My Experience: I’m all for lazy exfoliating options like wipes instead of scrubs, which is why Cho’s recommendation of Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Wine ($21, amazon.com) was perfect for me. I could easily exfoliate away, while watching The Bachelor on my couch. The double-sided wipes were packed with red wine (which you could seriously smell, but in a nonalcoholic stench) and lactic acid. The gauze side was bumpier allowing you to really feel as though your sloughing away any gunk clogging up your pores. Then the quilted side gave you a gentle finish to the process. I did this three times during the seven-day trial.
Redness isn’t exactly the usual goal when it comes to formulating your routine. In fact, it’s usually the opposite. If you’re seeing some sort of discoloration, whether in large or small amounts, you might want to switch up or be more conscientious about some of your usual habits.
